Cut Above the Rest

I was always one who thought it was dumb to cut your hair off soon after you got married.  If you wanted long hair for the wedding (so it would look best), why wouldn't you want your hair to look great always?  Well I still believe that.  However.....

My hair was getting tiresome.  I hadn't only grown it long for my wedding, but for years and years.  Long, wavy locks is my signature hairstyle after all!  Though it looked lovely, I didn't want to go down in history as "that girl that always has the same hairdo".  You know who I am talking about, those ladies that had fabulously feathered wings in high school and still flaunt them in 2010?  I couldn't be that.  I decided I just needed a change of hairstyle and it just so happened to fall a little after I got married.  I talked it over with the husband, family, friends, and my hairstylist, who suggested that change was good.  Besides, it grows back!  Shorter hair now doesn't necessarily mean short hair forever.

Anyway, the change went from this:

To this:

I actually think that it looks refreshing and is still quite similar to my old hairstyle, just shorter.  It makes my hair look healthier and thicker as well. What do you think?

Talkin' Turkey

My husband is awesome.  Look what he made for his niece's birthday celebration we had the day after Thanksgiving! A turkey cake! So creative.

The legs were even made from spice cake to look like dark meat.

Lee had teased Anna earlier that she would have to blow her candles out from atop a turkey.  She didn't like that idea very much, but soon warmed up to it once she saw that it was a turkey cake instead!

Friends of the Canine Variety

This summer our family dog had puppies again.  This was the third and largest litter of all.  They were so energetic and cute.  So much so, that Dad was convinced that we had to keep one.  After Lee and I got married we still came up to my parents house at least twice a week.  We love my family and all, but the travel was mainly for the puppies.  And can you blame us? Look at these cuties!

They thought it was fun to chew on our ears.  It tickles so much!

It was hot in July and these puppies were always hiding out in the bushes

Since there were so many puppies, even Lee got to name one.  Meet Kevin!

This is my sweetie, Fleck

We let them play in the flower garden and it was like children on a playground! They were barking and jumping, pouncing and wrestling.  After a while Doug got tired and made a bed on these soft flowers.  It was so cute, it was difficult to get mad at them for ruining the flower garden.

Mukwa is happy to take a break from the puppies with Lee

We wish we could have kept them all, but we were so happy to have been able to keep Bubba.  He is so funny!  Another post on that later!

Halloween

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

We weren't really sure what to be this year.  Napoleon and Pedro came to our minds, but that didn't really work out.  Then we remembered that Lee looks just like Russell from UP!  So last minute we pulled things together and created these costumes!

At work we were voted as best group costume!  It was funny because people would look at Lee and say "Funny, you are a fat boy scout." Then they would look at me and become really confused.  Then it would click. "OOOOOOH!!! CUTE!"

We even went into a store to get balloons. I walked up to the counter and said "We need some balloons", and the girl said "AWWWW! Of course you do!".  A little girl even said "Russell!", right when she saw Lee.  He does look like him! I need a little more work....not that good at frowning.  Plus Leland said I don't make a good man.  Luckily I was only on on Halloween! Hope you like the pics, and hope you had a happy Halloween!

HONEYMOON - St Lucia

We went to St Lucia!!! I was so surprised! Even though Leland didn't tell me where we were going on our honeymoon until our wedding night, it was worth it!  All those threats of going camping were empty. Ha HA! I knew he wouldn't let me down.

I don't want this too be too wordy, so I am mostly going to just give you some pictures!  The country was Bea-utiful. We had some pretty awesome adventures  and went on some tours of the island, took a mud bath in the volcano, horseback riding on the beach, snorkeling, and wake boarding in the ocean.

Luckily we were in a situation where we could do a lot of relaxing as well.  Adventures when we want, relax when we want.  We got a couples massage, relaxed on the beach, ate ourselves sick, and spent some time relaxing in the room with the TV.

It was a good time and place for us to be together and get used to our married-hood.

Some fun things that happened while we were there:

- We met an awesome kid on the flight out there who took to Leland right away.  He even put a new movie on for Leland when he fell asleep. :)

- Everyone there was on their honeymoon!  We thought we would get special treatment and all being on our honeymoon but because everyone else was too, it wasn't all that special.  We were supposed to get a bed of rose petals and a bottle of bubbly.  We got no bubbly and six whole plastic rose petals! Two in the middle and one in each corner.  Romantic!

- Leland went to every bar he saw, whenever he saw it at the resort.  Virgin drinks were a big hit and we found our favorite one a "Scorpion".

-Long interestingly awesome story short: Before our couples massage there was a giant spider (as big as my hand) on the wall and me and these three girls were screaming in terror at it.  Then a woman came in found it and picked it up with her hand and made a fist! She squished the spider with her bare hand and it squeeked when she killed it! EW!

- We went to church there and we had a difficult time finding the meeting house.  No road names or house numbers!  We finally found it and had a grand time with the members there.

-It was all you can eat food at any restraunt at any Sandals resort on the island.  We ate so much.

We wished we could have stayed longer, but I think that we did the most we could with the time we had.
Luckily for us the Honeymoon never ended, it just changed locations!

Newlywed Game

I have been waiting to get our underwater cameras developed to post about our honeymoon.  Until then, I offer for you ways to know that you are a newlywed.

You Are A Newlywed If....

* You're late for work each morning because cuddling after the snooze button is pushed, continues for a half hour longer than expected...

* You take shorter showers so that your spouse can have a hot shower too

* You realize AFTER you buy all those cute clothes online that you aren't the only one who will know how much you paid for them...(crap...)

* Finishing leftovers gives you the biggest feeling of accomplishment ("Yay! Those enchiladas are outta there!")

* You call out for your mom to clean up the rotten potatoes you found in the cupboard...(echo...echo..echo...)

 * You can come home when its light and never leave until it's light again the next day! It still astounds me!

* Rice is no longer a meal time staple and is replaced by cheese. (Leland)

 * You are almost brought to tears of joy seeing a washer and dryer in your place.

* You have more pictures of the two of you than you know what to do with and start contemplating how your bathroom would look with your wedding pictures over the toilet.

And finally

* When you are happier than you have ever been in your life.  You are constantly finding new reasons to be in love and enjoying all of the "quirks" that come with being newlyweds.  Good and Bad.

Groomals

I wanted to show off my handsome husband and give all of you a glimpse of some of our Groomal pictures.  They were on display at our reception but just in case, here they are!

Hope you enjoyed them. :)
